Village of Rockton Board of Trustees met Sept. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Present: Mayor Peterson, Mr. Baumgartner, Mr. Danielson, Mrs. Honkamp, Ms. May, Mr. Winters, Mr. York and Atty. Szeto

Staff present: Sally Bennett, Jake Costello, Tricia Diduch, Chief Hollinger and Connie Kieffer Also present: Chief Wilson (Rockton Fire Protection District)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Danielson, to waive the reading of the August 6, 2024 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to approve the August 6, 2024 Village Board meeting minutes. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA

Mrs. Honkamp stated that he would like to remove Item #1 under herself. Motion by Mr. Winters to approve the amendments to the agenda, second by Mr. Baumgartner. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

MAYOR PETERSON

Motion by Mr. Winters to approve the appointment of Linda Cooper to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a 5-year term, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

VILLAGE ATTORNEY

None.

ZONING

Motion by Mr. Winters to approve Ordinance 2024-15: Approval of a Minimum Lot Width Variance from 250 Feet to 165 Feet in the UT Urban Transitional District for 11818 Wagon Wheel Rd., second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL & BUDGET – MR. WINTERS

Mr. Winters shared the Rockton Police Department activity summary from August 1st – 15th with the Village Board.

Chief Wilson provided the Rockton Fire Protection District activity report to the Village Board. Chief Wilson stated that they have responded to 844 incidents from January 1st – July 31st. Chief Wilson advised the Village Board that the fire protection district is in great shape and that they have been assisting South Beloit. Chief Wilson added that they have a fully staffed ambulance and engine to respond to calls.

ADMINISTRATION – MR. YORK

None.

WATER, SEWER, AND GARBAGE – MS. MAY

Motion by Ms. May to approve Ordinance 2024-16: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 53 “Water Service”, Section 53.29 “Public Fire Hydrants” of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Regarding Fire Hydrant Usage, second by Mr. Baumgartner. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – MR. DANIELSON

None.

BUILDINGS AND PARKS – MRS. HONKAMP

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to approve the purchase requisition for Enterprise Fleet Management for a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in the amount of $56,670.41, second by Mr. Danielson. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to waive the formal bid process for the pole barn storage building, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Motion by Mrs. Honkamp to approve the purchase requisition for Above the Peak Construction for the pole barn storage building in the amount of $39,000, second by Ms. May. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0

STREETS AND WALKS – MR. BAUMGARTNER

None.

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mrs. Honkamp, to pay bills in the amount of $304,907.49. Roll call. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.

Hearing no further business, motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Danielson, to adjourn at 7:10 pm. All ayes. Motion approved 6-0.
