Village of Rockton Administration Committee met Oct. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Danielson called the regular meeting of the Administration Committee to order at 5:30 pm. Members present: Mayor Peterson, Scott Danielson and Dave Winters

Staff present: Dan Barber, Sally Bennett, Tricia Diduch and Chief Hollinger

Also present: Spencer Cushing

Absent: Justin York

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Danielson to waive the reading of and approve the minutes of September 30, 2024. All ayes. Motion approved 2-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

MAYOR – JOHN PETERSON

Mayor Peterson stated that the ribbon cutting for La Croute Bakery Café is this Thursday at 8:30 am if anyone can make it.

Mayor Peterson said that there will also be active shooter training at Village Hall on Thursday morning at 9 am.

Mayor Peterson advised the Committee that Thursday, November 7th Senator Chesney will be at the American Legion from 3-7 pm to help residents swap out IPASS transponders.

Mayor Peterson stated that the Northern Illinois Mayor’s Association (NIMA) will be holding a meeting at the Historic Auto Museum on November 21st that will be hosted by Rockton, Roscoe and South Beloit and to let him know if anyone is interested in attending.

Mayor Peterson said that the Village’s annual holiday party will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at Williams Tree Farm.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – SCOTT DANIELSON, CHAIRMAN

None.

PUBLIC SAFETY & LEGAL – DAVE WINTERS

None.

ADMINISTRATION – JUSTIN YORK

Mr. Winters stated that Ordinance 2024-22: An Ordinance of the Village of Rockton, Illinois Amending the Salary or Other Compensation of the Office of the Village Clerk is up for approval at the Village Board meeting on October 15th. The Committee was okay with this.

THE CHIEF– MATT HOLLINGER

Chief Hollinger advised the Committee that they will be interviewing candidates for the police officer position the next two weeks on Wednesday and Thursday. Chief Hollinger added that 23 candidates showed up and 20 passed their testing.

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATOR – TRICIA DIDUCH

Ms. Diduch stated that the variance that was going to be up for approval at the Village Board meeting has been withdrawn. Ms. Diduch said that there was no support of the variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) and Planning Commission. Ms. Diduch stated that the applicant is going to pursue putting the structure in her backyard.

Ms. Diduch advised the Committee that she has several sponsorships coming in for the Rockton Christmas Walk and that she just published the dueling pianos event that sells out every year. Ms. Diduch added that the Main Street Trick or Treat event is even bigger this year and that she anticipates many to attend.

Ms. Diduch stated that she has two immediate openings on the Historic Preservation Commission if anyone inquires.

Motion by Mr. Winters, second by Mr. Danielson to adjourn at 5:41 pm.
