When the Illinois General Assembly reconvenes in Springfield on January 4, 2025, it will mark the beginning of a "lame duck" session. During this period, officials who will not return for the next General Assembly have the opportunity to vote on new legislation. Historically, some controversial bills have been passed during these sessions.

Critics argue that such sessions often result in unfavorable laws being enacted. Concerns are being raised about potential legislative outcomes in the upcoming session.

"Illinois residents deserve better," reads a statement from those opposed to the process. The call is clear: "Say No to Lame Duck Democrats."
