Representative Joe C. Sosnowski (R) | Illinois General Assembly
State Representative Joe Sosnowski, a Republican from Rockford, along with the other 117 members of the Illinois House of Representatives, convened on Wednesday for the inauguration of the 104th General Assembly. The ceremony took place at the Sangamon Auditorium on the University of Illinois Springfield campus.
During his remarks, Sosnowski criticized Governor JB Pritzker's administration, stating: “Six years under Governor JB Pritzker and his allies in the legislature has led to a $3.2 Billion budget shortfall and a shrinking tax base as jobs and families move to states with lower taxes and less regulation.” He added that Illinois could become "a job magnet once again" if current policies were reversed.
Sosnowski expressed his commitment to advocating for change in Illinois while maintaining strong constituent services. He stated: "In this new term, I will continue to be a voice for all those who want to see Illinois go in a new direction while continuing my commitment to provide the very best constituent service to local residents who need help interacting with a state agency or program."
Representing Illinois’ 69th District since 2011, Sosnowski serves parts of Winnebago County, Boone County, and McHenry County following redistricting in 2023. His educational background includes an undergraduate degree and a Master's in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University. Prior to joining the state legislature, he was involved in local government as an alderman in DeKalb and later served on Rockford City Council from 2005-2010.
Sosnowski's professional experience spans residential and commercial real estate as well as fundraising development for K-12 schools and senior living communities. Constituents can reach out to his district office at (815) 547-3436 for assistance or legislative ideas.
