State Representative John M. Cabello, a Republican from Machesney Park, has been sworn in for his seventh term in the Illinois House of Representatives. Cabello is notable for being one of only three state lawmakers who also serve as active duty law enforcement officers. He has a 29-year tenure with the Rockford Police Department.

"It is an honor to once again represent the hardworking families of Northwest Illinois in the General Assembly," said Rep. Cabello. "I will fight tooth and nail against passing more tax increases and other failed policies that are harming our quality of life. Public safety, economic growth, and defending the rights of individuals from a corrupt government will continue to be my top priorities as we move into this new session."

Throughout his time in office, Cabello has focused on community safety through crime reduction measures while opposing tax increases and what he considers wasteful government spending.
