State Representative John M. Cabello, a Republican from Machesney Park, is urging Illinois residents to oppose two Democrat-led proposals currently under consideration in the 104th General Assembly. The proposals aim to legalize prostitution and allow incarcerated individuals to vote while serving their sentences.
Cabello expressed strong opposition to these measures, stating, "Illinois residents have repeatedly seen lawmakers propose extreme policies that are completely out of touch with the interests of families, taxpayers, and communities. These proposals are no exception." He warned that legalizing prostitution could lead to increased human trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable groups. Additionally, he argued that allowing criminals to vote during their incarceration undermines justice and disrespects crime victims.
To rally support against these proposals, Cabello has launched a petition available at RepCabello.com or through his office phone number. He encouraged residents to sign the petition as a way to express their concerns and safeguard community safety.
Cabello concluded by emphasizing the need for responsible leadership in Illinois: "Illinois needs responsible leadership and policies that reflect the values and safety of its people, not reckless ideas such as these that put our communities at risk."
