State Representative John M. Cabello has introduced his legislative agenda for 2025, focusing on law and order, taxpayer protection, and Second Amendment rights. The proposals aim to repeal several existing policies, reduce property tax burdens, and increase accountability among public officials.
Rep. Cabello's legislative package includes measures to protect taxpayers and defend gun owners' rights in Illinois. "His proposals seek to restore law and order, protect taxpayers, and defend the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners."
Among the key pieces of legislation is a bill aimed at repealing Illinois’ TRUST Act, also known as the Sanctuary State Law. Other notable proposals include restoring Second Amendment rights within the state and providing property owners with more time to appeal unfair tax assessments.
Additionally, Rep. Cabello has filed a bill requiring body cameras for public officials as part of efforts to enhance transparency and accountability. Another proposal seeks to lower the legal drinking age in Illinois from 21 to 18.
In an innovative move, Rep. Cabello has also proposed establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve for the state of Illinois.
