State Representative John M. Cabello from Machesney Park has expressed criticism towards Governor J.B. Pritzker following the 2025 State of the State Address. In his statement, Cabello accused Governor Pritzker of being disconnected from the challenges faced by Illinois residents and taxpayers.

"Today, Governor Pritzker demonstrated just how out of touch he is with the issues facing Illinois residents and taxpayers," stated Rep. Cabello. He criticized the governor for defending sanctuary state policies, financial mismanagement leading to a large state budget, and an economy that he claims is causing people to leave for more business-friendly environments.

Cabello further commented on what he perceives as Governor Pritzker's priorities: "It’s clear that we have a multi-billionaire Governor who is more interested in running or President and repackaging his failures as successes than fixing the problems facing our exploited residents." He concluded with a call for Pritzker's resignation: "He should resign effective immediately."

In response to these issues, Cabello has proposed legislation to establish an Illinois Department of Government Efficiency. This department aims to address inefficiencies within the state government.

"Illinois residents deserve a government that is transparent, efficient, and accountable," said Cabello. "That’s why I introduced legislation to create the Illinois Department of Government Efficiency – because unlike Governor Pritzker, I believe we should be cutting waste and prioritizing the needs of working families – rather than growing bureaucracy and reckless spending."
