Today, Congressman Darin LaHood and the Congressional Soccer Caucus Co-Chairs, Representatives Rick Larson, Kathy Castor, and Don Bacon, expressed their support for the creation of a White House Task Force on the FIFA World Cup 2026. This initiative was announced by President Trump.
In a joint statement, the representatives said, "As bipartisan co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, we welcome President Trump’s creation of a World Cup Task Force." They emphasized the significance of co-hosting this major sporting event with Canada and Mexico as an opportunity to present North America to a global audience while promoting soccer in the United States.
The task force aims to facilitate coordination across federal agencies and with state, local, tribal, and international partners. The co-chairs added, "An event of this size requires coordination across the federal government and with state, local, tribal, and international partners, particularly the co-host nations. We look forward to working together with the White House Task Force to ensure the FIFA 2026 Men’s World Cup is a success."
