City of Loves Park City Council met March 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Greg Jury called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

Alderman Mark Peterson opened the meeting with an invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Present: Aldermen Clint Little, Dan Jacobson, John Pruitt, Jim Thompson, Mark Peterson, A. Marie Holmes, Robert Schlensker, Doug Allton, Mike Owens

Absent: Alderman John Jacobson

Also Present: City Clerk Bob Burden

1. APPROVAL OF CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

The Journal of Proceedings for the regular meeting of February 17, 2025, was approved as submitted by the City Clerk on a motion by Alderman Schlensker. Second by Alderman Allton. Motion carried. 8 Ayes (Aldermen Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Owens) 1 Present (Alderman Allton) 1 Absent (Alderman John Jacobson)

2. COMMUNICATIONS, MAYOR’S REPORT & ANNOUNCEMENTS

3. COMMERCE COMMISSION HEARING

Received a notice from the Illinois Commerce Commission of a hearing regarding Commonwealth Edison Company, to be held on March 20, 2025, via WebEx. Placed on file

4. SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY FEST

Received a Special Event Permit for the Irish Marching Society for the St. Patrick’s Day Fest to be held on March 15, 2025, at Loves Park City Hall, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Referred to Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

Alderman Thompson moved to approve a Special Event Permit for the Irish Marching Society for the St. Patrick’s Day Fest to be held on March 15, 2025, at Loves Park City Hall, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Second by Alderman Pruitt. Motion carried by voice vote.

5. SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT FOR EASTER EGG HUNT

Received a Special Event Permit for the Loves Park Ski Broncs to hold an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Shorewood Park, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Referred to Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

Alderman Thompson moved to approve a Special Event Permit for the Loves Park Ski Broncs to hold an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Shorewood Park, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Second by Alderman Owens. Motion carried by voice vote.

6. VFW CORNED BEEF & CABBAGE DINNER

Mayor Jury announced that the VFW will hold a Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. at Loves Park City Hall.

7. CRAFT FAIR FOR A CAUSE

Mayor Jury announced that the Craft Fair for a Cause will be held at Loves Park City Hall on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

8. LIHEAP ASSISTANCE

Mayor Jury announced that signups for LIHEAP assistance will be held at Loves Park City Hall on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

9. IRISH MARCHING SOCIETY’S PADDYFEST DAY

Mayor Jury announced that the Irish Marching Society will hold a PaddyFest at Loves Park City Hall on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

10. NEXT COUNCIL MEETING

Mayor Jury announced that the next city council meeting will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025.

11. PROCLAMATION FOR HARLEM GIRLS BOWLING TEAM

Mayor Jury presented a proclamation to the Harlem Girls Bowling Team; proclaiming the week of March 3, through March 9, 2025 to be “IHSA 2025 Girls State Bowling Championship week” in the City of Loves Park.

Alderman Peterson presented the General Fund and all other bills dated March 3, 2025, in the amount of $921,558.51 and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Pruitt. Motion carried. 9 Ayes (Aldermen Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Allton, Owens) 1 Absent (Alderman John Jacobson)

14. WATER FUND BILLS

Alderman Peterson presented the Water Department bills dated March 3, 2025, in the amount of $168,104.20, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Dan Jacobson. Motion carried. 9 Ayes (Aldermen Little, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Holmes, Schlensker, Allton Owens) 1 Absent (Alderman John Jacobson)

Alderman Allton presented the Police Department Report for March 3, 2025; presented the Fire Department Report for March 3, 2025, and the annual Fire Department Report for 2024, to be placed on file.

Alderman Schlensker presented the Street Department Report for March 3, 2025; presented the Water Department Report for March 3, 2025, to be placed on file.

Alderman Peterson presented an ordinance amending Section 2-64 of Chapter 2 Article II and Sections 2-101, 2-121, 2-166 of Chapter 2 Article III of the Loves Park Code of Ordinances, and moved for approval. 26. LIQUOR LICENSE FOR LINO’S, 8400 E. RIVERSIDE BLVD.

Alderman Thompson presented an ordinance approving the issuance of a R1 Liquor License for Lino’s, 8400 E. Riverside Blvd., and moved for approval. Second by Alderman Owens. Alderman Pruitt presented an ordinance providing for a Special Use Permit for a tattoo shop at the property known as 6330 E. Riverside Blvd., and moved for approval. Second by Alderman Owens.
