City of Loves Park Codes & Regulations Committee met Aug. 4.

New Business

1) Wedding event – September 13, 2025, 12315 Empire St.. Ed Ward and Jen Gibson explained their scheduled event – their wedding and reception in the back yards of the neighborhood Eds (Ward - 12315 Empire, and Powers – 12319 Empire). A written consent from Ed Powers was provided with the application. Anticipated number of guests were discussed, as well as the noise ordinance restricting loud music, etc. after 11 pm. The couple expect many guests will walk from their residences in the area and expressed an understanding concerning both the noise ordinance restrictions and responsibilities that alcohol served be done in a responsible manner (including ensuring no alcohol leaves the event). Parking was also discussed, again to ensure adequate access for emergency vehicles if necessary. All matters were addressed satisfactorily, and no other issues were raised at the committee.

2) Oktoberfest event – September 27, 2025, Loves Park City Hall. The German Society of Rockford submitted its annual application for Oktoberfest, along with its certification of insurance and diagram of the location of various parts of the scheduled event. The application, as in years past, included a request that the standard fee be waived. The event is always well-attended and enjoyed by those who participate or attend; the application details mirrored years past, including designated locations for cooking inside and outside, an area for children to be entertained, food and drink inside the gymnasium as well as locations for music and dancing. The Society will be responsible for obtaining a temporary liquor license through the City (consistent with past events).
