October is recognized as Manufacturing Month in Illinois, providing an opportunity to acknowledge the state's manufacturing sector and its impact on the economy.
The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) reports that more than 662,000 people are directly employed by manufacturers in Illinois. The industry contributes $580 billion annually to the state’s economy, making it the largest sector in Illinois and one of the fastest-growing in the Midwest.
Senator Syverson stated, "From small, family-run businesses to large employers, manufacturers provide good-paying jobs, strengthen local economies, and create opportunities for future generations. You cannot have a strong economy without manufacturing."
Syverson has served as a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate since 1993, representing the 35th Senate District after succeeding Christine J. Johnson.
