Report: Shirland spent $11,397 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Shirland Community Consolidated School District 134 is up 22 percent from five years ago, according to a Rockford Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Winnebago County school district spent $9,348 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,397 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 131 to 117.

Shirland's spending in 2016-17 was 12 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
