SWEDISHAMERICAN HOSPITAL: SwedishAmerican Hospital Honors Outstanding Respiratory Therapist with the Phil Award

Award

SwedishAmerican Hospital issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

SwedishAmerican Hospital has selected Michael Albright as its 2018 recipient of The PHIL Award. This annual award is part of The FACES Foundation’s program to recognize exemplary respiratory care. The PHIL Award is the only nationally recognized hospital-based program that honors outstanding respiratory therapists, as nominated by patients, their family members and coworkers. This is the second time the PHIL Award has been presented in Illinois. SwedishAmerican’s Joseph Hulbert won it last year.

Michael Albright was nominated by various patients and families, as well as his coworkers, who describe Michael as an extraordinary resource for other therapists.

“He is always willing to teach other disciplines regarding the importance of top notch care when related to the respiratory system, said Kevin Daniels, Manager of Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Function. “Michael is a high performer that would excel in any profession. His attention to detail and caring qualities make him the employee to emulate and strive towards.”

During the award presentation, the honoree was presented with a certificate and award sculpture entitled Appreciation, which was adapted by creator MK Shannon especially for The PHIL Award.

“We are proud to partner with The FACES Foundation to recognize and honor our outstanding respiratory therapists,” said Daniels. “This exemplary professional sees the ‘person’ instead of the ‘patient’ and is committed to the belief that every breath matters. It’s important that our respiratory therapists know their work is highly valued, and The PHIL Award provides a way for us to do that.”
