ROCKFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT: "Swatting" Arrest

Rockford Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 29.

Over the last several weeks, the Rockford Police Department has received several false 911 calls, more commonly known as “Swatting”. On November 27, 2018 shortly before 11:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers received a call regarding a stabbing. Officers determined the call to be false, and located the caller, identified as Kevon Dukes, in the 800 block of North Court Street. Dukes was taken into custody, and during the arrest process, damaged an interview room. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the below listed charges against Dukes.

Rockford Police are investigating the possibility that Dukes is involved in other cases of false 911 calls. Dukes was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Dukes are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
