Illinois residents will soon have the option to access their driver's licenses and state IDs through digital wallets, following the passage of legislation in the Illinois House of Representatives (HB4592). The initiative is set to begin with Apple Wallet by the end of 2025, with plans to expand to other platforms like Google Wallet in the future. This development will allow users to securely store and use their IDs on an iPhone or Apple Watch. Illinois is joining ten other states that already offer digital IDs.
