Winnebago County State’s Attorney Republican candidate David Gill will be hosting his initial fundraiser and kickoff event today in Rockford.
The two-hour event is slated to commence at 5:30 pm at Franchesco’s, 7128 Spring Creek Rd., where tickets are $60 per couple and $35 per person.
A longtime local attorney who also served eight years in the state’s attorney’s office working on criminal cases, Gill is running for the seat currently held by Democrat Marilyn Hite Ross. A lifelong resident of Winnebago County, he has adopted the campaign slogan, “Because courtroom experience matters.”

Gill comes from a long line of those involved in the criminal justice system, as both his father and grandfather once served as judges.
