89

Illinois State House District 89 issued the following announcement on March 11.

State Representative Andrew Chesney was hosted for a Meet & Greet/ Informal Town Hall Meeting in Pecatonica on March 10 at the invitation of Mayor Bill Smull and the Village Board.

“As the General Assembly has a small break in our schedule this week, I felt it important to provide an opportunity for taxpayers to come out and say hello, receive an update on state issues and provide an opportunity for questions and answers about top state issues,” said Chesney, the second-term legislator serving the 89th House District in Northwest Illinois.

More than a dozen area citizens attended to hear about what is going on in Springfield as well as ask questions and provide feedback. “I was honored Mayor Smull and the Pecatonica Village Board hosted this event to hear from local residents, even though many are quite upset at the direction our state is headed,” said Rep. Chesney.

Admission to the event was free and several local elected officials and residents of Pecatonica joined engaged voters in learning more about what is really going on in Springfield. Among the issues discussed: State Budget & Capital Bill, Tax & Fee Increases, Local Government Funding, and issues with the State’s Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card. Chesney provided an update on where things stand as the Spring Session of the General Assembly is kicking into gear and provided time for questions from attendees.
