In Rockford, some stores are limiting the number of meat products a person can purchase as the COVID-19 pandemic impacts processing plants.

Stores such as Schnucks, Meijer and Woodman's in Rockford have posted signs in their meat departments to inform shoppers of the limits on purchasing meat, according to RRStar. Costco will also be limiting fresh meat purchases to three items per customer, while Valli Produce announced that it would not be limiting meat purchases.

Many meat processing plants have temporarily shut down across the nation, while others are slowing meat processing, according to RRStar, Many plant employees are catching the virus, which results in less workers.

Hy-Vee, a grocery store in the Midwest, said several of its stores would be limiting meat purchases as well.

“Each customer will be limited to four packages of a combination of fresh beef, ground beef, pork and chicken when they checkout at all Hy-Vee locations,” Hy-Vee said on its website.
