It is with great sadness that I give my condolences to the McNamara family. I had the honor of becoming close to John while I was running against his son, Tom, for city council in 2013. From there, he helped me to land a job at Rockford University and was a supporter of mine as I moved through the political arena. I will truly miss him. Former Mayor John McNamara is an inspiration by himself but he lit a fire in our community that keeps us going. Thank you for your courage, drive and inspiration. Thank you for serving your community, your family and giving us momentum to move forward.
