Residents interested in helping local families with infant children can do their part by giving to the Holiday Diaper Drive running through Dec. 1.
Any brand of diaper from infant through toddler sizes, baby wipes, and diaper rash creams are being accepted during the drive, according to the office of state Rep. Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford). Donations can either be dropped off or shipped to Sosnowski’s office at 305 Amphitheater Drive in Rockford or to the Empower Boone Food Pantry at 200 Fifth St. in Capron.
Sosnowski and Empower Boone are co-sponsoring the effort, which helps families such as those enrolled in the WIC and SNAP programs, neither of which covers diaper costs.
“Many families could use help with basic needs like diapers to ensure the best start for their children,” Sosnowski said. “Diapers are an essential and often overlooked need for families struggling financially during the holidays.”
