City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Jan. 15.
Today, Northwest Neighbors, represented by Rev. Stephen Bowie of Third Presbyterian Church and Rev. Julane Nease of United Lutheran Church, presented a check to the Rockford Police Department for our body worn cameras initiative.
“We are proud to join this effort. Not only to ensure accountability for law enforcement, but for all of us. We need to make this community what we want it to be. We know $500 in and of itself it’s going to solve anything, but we hope it’s part of the solution,” explained Rev. Bowie.
On hand to accept the donation were Mayor Tom McNamara, Assistant Deputy Chief Kurt Whisenand, Assistant Deputy Chief Carla Redd and Lieutenant Scott Olson.
