Village of Rockton Public Works Committee met Aug. 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chair Tyler Seever called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at 6:34 pm. Members Present: Mayor Peterson, Jodi May, Tyler Seever, Arianne Honkamp

Staff present: Dan Barber, Adam Bunge, and Don Self

APPROVAL OF JULY 18, 2022 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES

Motion to approve made by Ms. Honkamp. Second by Ms. May. Minutes approved, 3-0.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None.

VILLAGE ENGINEER

Adam Bunge gave his report [on file in the Village Clerk’s office].

MAYOR PETERSON

Mayor Peterson discussed the repaired community signs at the northwest corner of Route 2 and Union St.

STREETS & WALKS, TYLER SEEVER

None.

WATER, SEWER & GARBAGE, JODI MAY

Ms. May discussed the purchase requisition for Gasvoda & Associates for $16,576 for two slide gates. Mr. Barber stated the estimates came in right around the budgeted estimates. Ms. May then presented Ord. 2022-20 Amending the Village Code Section 92.027 Regarding Garbage. Ms. Diduch explained the situation that necessitated the need to tighten the language regarding putting the attached garbage can lid on the garbage can. Mayor Peterson expressed dismay that this ordinance has to be passed in the first place.

The Committee then discussed the Illinois Rural Water Association (IRWA) water/sewer rate study. Mr. Barber highlighted the study’s findings. Ms. May stated she would like to see how the rates compare to other neighboring communities. Mayor Peterson stated Ms. Prather could research that information.

BUILDINGS & PARKS, ARIANNE HONKAMP

Ms. Honkamp presented the Rockton Police Association’s “Blues & BBQ” event on Sept. 4. She then presented the Rock Energy easements, which Mr. Barber described the needed route.

PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER, DAN BARBER

Mr. Barber stated one of the public works employees received his CDL, and one more employee is very close to receiving his license. He then explained that the rate sewer/water rate study states there is a 25% water revenue loss, but when the Village’s use is accounted for, the actual water loss is approximately 13%.

PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR, DON SELF

Mr. Self discussed some of the pool repairs that have been needed recently.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS ALLOWED BY LAW

None.

Motion by Ms. Honkamp, second by Ms. May to adjourn. Motion approved, 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:48 pm.
