You can decide who made the best scarecrow in the Cherry Valley Public Library District's 10th annual Scarecrows on Parade fundraiser by casting your vote.
Illinois state Rep. Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) and his family designed a scarecrow displayed as part of the fundraiser.
"This year our scarecrow is phantom of the opera themed, and my daughter made his mask!" Sosnowski said in a Facebook post this week. "Check out all of the scarecrows the next two weekends in downtown Cherry Valley and vote for your favorite!"
Sosnowski's post included a link where people could vote for their preferred scarecrow. The Cherry Valley Public Library District webpage noted that each vote costs $1 and can be done online or in person at the library, Cattle & Cream, Lucky Dog Pub, Shell Fastlane, or the Village of Cherry Valley Administrative Offices. Voting will continue through Oct. 27 with the winners announced at the Village Halloween festivities on Oct. 29.
Sosnowsky was recently endorsed by the Illinois State Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund, a email release said.
The representative also celebrated the groundbreaking of a General Mills distribution center in Belvedere two months ago, the Rockford Sun reported. He congratulated everyone involved in the project and noted that the facility was expected to open in a year.
