North Park FPD responds to 57 fires in 2017

North Park Fire Protection District responded to 125 calls in 2017 - 5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in North Park included 57 fires - 41 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to six calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $441,600 in fire loss - or about $7,747 per fire.

The department also received 62 false calls, including two malicious calls and 60 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The North Park Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $815,263 in 2017.

The North Park FPD Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has active employee and one retired or inactive employee, was $519 positive as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $9 for every fire in 2016.
