Rep. Cabello bill for veterans advances to Senate

Veteran

Republican state Rep. John M. Cabello (R-Machesney) has unanimously steered legislation through the House that would cut veterans' vehicle registration fees in half.

House Bill 2038 would apply to any vet of the armed forces, cutting fees for passenger plates to $50.50 from the current $101.

“This is one way we can demonstrate our respect and appreciation for the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States,” Cabello said in a press release. “I am pleased to advance this legislation on behalf of our veterans and look forward to getting it onto the governor’s desk to be signed into law this year.”
