City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.
Mayor Tom McNamara announced today he is appointing Todd Hughes as Director of Information Technology. Hughes fills the role of Director Glenn Trommels, who will retire in January after more than 18 years with the City. Starting as Information Services Manager, Trommels became the City’s first Information Technology Director when the IT Department was officially created in 2006.
The IT Department provides service and support for all information technology assets to City of Rockford staff and provides users with the hardware, software, and technical support needed to function efficiently as a municipality.
Hughes comes to the City from Winnebago County, where he has worked for 16 years, serving as Application Manager and, most recently, Manager of IT Integration. He is cyber security certified by the Global Information Assurance Certification Organization, the certification body of the SANS Institute, and is a Certified Project Manager.
“I’m excited to welcome Todd to our senior leadership team,” says Mayor McNamara. “He has exemplary qualifications and tremendous experience in municipality IT. His strong leadership skills, experience in systems integration, and focus on fiscal accountability will serve the City well.”
The appointment is subject to City Council approval and is scheduled for Monday night’s meeting.
