City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.
With ice accumulation continuing to be an issue in most alleyways, garbage collection from City of Rockford alleys has been temporarily put on hold for the remainder of the week. This includes garbage, recycling, and Christmas tree/yard waste.
Residents with alley collections may move these items streetside for pick-up until conditions improve. Residents are encouraged to visit Rock River Disposal’s website at www.rockriverdisposal.com for service alerts or download the WasteConnect App, a mobile application that can be download to stay connected with service schedules, reminders, alerts, and recycling information. Residents may also inquire with Rock River Disposal direct by calling customer service at 815-965-2489. The City’s Sanitation webpage can also be visited at the following link for the latest service updates: https://rockfordil.gov/./community-and./sanitation/.
Rock River Disposal will continue to monitor the conditions and we’ll post updates as soon as we have them.
