City of Carlyle Police Committee Met Feb. 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jeremy Weh at 5:30 p.m. at Carlyle City Hall located at 850 Franklin Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Jeremy Weh, Don Perez, and Bruce Hilmes. Others present included Chief Mark Pingsterhaus, Mayor Judy Smith, Andy Brackett, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

Approval of Minutes

After reviewing the minutes from the November 16, 2020 meeting, Don Perez made a motion to approve the minutes. Bruce Hilmes seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Software Issues

Chief stated that the server at the Sheriff’s Department has had a ransomware attack and has been out of commission since January 24th. The County’s server houses Carlyle PD’s information. Since the County’s server has been hacked, the Carlyle PD is back to using pen and paper for all reports and is behind on all paperwork. Chief added that he hopes to know the cost of the City switching to ID Networks soon.

Update on Squad Cars

The new Explorer is getting the in-car system installed and Mike Lane’s car is ready to be sold. Herzing’s Explorer will be purchased by the other City departments and the current Explorer used the departments will be sold. 

End of Year Report

Chief reviewed the Annual Police Report for 2020 with the Committee. See the end of the minutes.

Old Business

There was no old business.

New Business

The K-9 fish fry will be held on Good Friday. Governor Pritzker has not signed the police reform bill. All police officers will be required to wear cameras by January 1, 2025 in Illinois.

Executive Session

The Committee did not enter executive session so there were no executive session items on which to vote.

Adjourn

With no further business to discuss, Don Perez made a motion to adjourn. Bruce Hilmes seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
