Variance Request
Doug Hails and Les Boatright are requesting approval from the Zoning Board to build a 2,040 square foot machine shop for a contracting business on an I-1 Industrial zoned lot with a 10,890 square foot lot area versus the required 20,000 square foot minimum lot area requirement per City Code 40-4-54. The request also includes a request for an 8’ side setback from the east property line and 21’ side setback from the west property line versus the required 25’ side setbacks per City Code 40-4-54 in an I-1 Industrial District within the City of Carlyle. The legal description of the property is Parcel ID 08-07-24-208-009 more commonly known as 1850 Washington Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
Kristine Siegler questioned why the side of the shed with the smaller setback is on the residential side of the lot. Les Boatright stated that he would be willing to flip flop the shed plans, but the side of the shed with the larger setback will also have to contain a dumpster. It was determined that it would be better to leave the variance request as is. Gene Jurgensmeyer made a motion to send the variance request to Council as is. Kristine Siegler seconded the motion. After roll call, all were found in favor.
Old Business
There was no old business.
New Business
Andy stated that the Zoning Board will meet again on March 11, 2021, at 6 p.m. for another variance request.
