City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Apr. 9.
Members of our local Building Trades Unions donated their time and talents last summer to help renovate the new Family Peace Center before its July opening. Last night, representatives of these unions toured the facility with Mayor Tom McNamara and Jennifer Cacciapaglia, Manager of the Mayor’s Office of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking Prevention.
“In our first seven months of operations, we’ve seen more than 260 clients in our new facility,” says Cacciapaglia. “It’s not hyperbole. It’s the truth. Without the Building Trade Unions stepping in and donating their time and labor to complete the renovation of our beautiful center, we would not have been able to serve these survivors.”
“Due to the pandemic, we haven’t had a safe opportunity to hold a grand opening,” says Mayor Mcnamara. “However, we wanted to give these incredible volunteers from our Building Trade Unions an opportunity to see the end result of their hard work, and we want to thank them for making our dream a reality.”
