Illinois State Rep. Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) recently stopped by the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee meeting and congratulated the county sheriff while reflecting on his visit.
Chesney, who is also the Republican nominee for the state's 45th Senate district, posted about his trip on social media.
"It was my great honor to join the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee and recognize Sheriff David Snyders for his decades of service to Stephenson County! Thank you Sheriff," Chesney wrote Thursday in a Facebook post.
Chesney recently scored the endorsement of The Illinois State Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund, the organization announced in an email. Chesney is running against Democrat Gerald Podraza in the upcoming general election.
Late last month, he announced his mobile office hours for early October for Forreston and Mt. Morris in an effort to reach his constituents where they were, the Rockford Sun reported.
According to his state representative website, Chesney has served the 89th District since December 2018. Prior to that, he served on the Freeport City Council and was a past board member of the Regional Access Mobilization Project (RAMP), an organization that provides support services and advocates for people with disabilities. He also was a mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
