The North Boone Community Unit School District Board of Education welcomed the staff from Capron Elementary during a recent board meeting to mark some of the school’s accomplishments.
The board recognized the staff for a Gold Circle Rating received by the pre-kindergarten program and the school for an "Exemplary" mark received on the state report card, placing the school among the top 10% performing schools statewide.
“I just want to say, first of all, thank you to all the staff,” Nicole Difford, the school’s principal, told the staff at the Nov. 15 meeting.
Difford represented her staff at the meeting, noting that two preschool teachers had other obligations and could not attend the board meeting. She said during the commemoration that the school underwent an in-depth auditing process for the preschool program. Difford also urged the board to visit the preschool to see the staff and students in action.
During the meeting, Difford lauded the teamwork of the school’s staff as a key driver for the "Exemplary" status. She commented that staff works together and supports each student.
Difford also offered thanks to her staff for going above and beyond to make a difference, and she cited work they put in to raise the math scores among fourth graders.
