City of Carlyle Police Committee met Oct. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bruce Hilmes on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Case Halstead Library located at 550 6th Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Committee members present included Bruce Hilmes, Scott Diekemper, and Jeremy Weh. Others present included Jim McClaren, Jeff Taylor, Mike Jansen, Brad Myers, Chief Mark Pingsterhaus, Mayor Judy Smith, and Martha Reinkensmeyer.

Approval of Minutes

After reviewing the minutes from the September 9, 2024, meeting, Scott Diekemper made a motion to approve the minutes. Jeremy Weh seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Purchase New Dodge Truck

Chief Pingsterhaus asked the Committee for permission to purchase a 2023 Ram 1500 Classic from Victory Lane Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Carlinville for $44,999.00. He stated that the purchase of the new truck was included in the budget. Bruce Hilmes made a motion to send the purchase of the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic from Victory Lane Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for the amount of $44,999.00 to council. Jeremy Weh seconded the motion. After a voice vote, all were found in favor.

Unfinished Business

Mayor Smith asked Chief Pingsterhaus to speak with Kyle Berry about moving the speed limit sign near the high school. She also asked for an update on the stop signs at Lakeside Liquor. Chief stated that he is waiting for City Attorney Joe Heiligenstein to finish the ordinance. Brad advised Chief Pingsterhaus that the high school will be closing off 13th Street behind its building on October 27th for a Touch a Truck event.

New Business

Chief Pingsterhaus stated that the police department will need to replace all its tasers. Batteries are no longer available for the model currently being used. Eight tasers will need to be purchased. He has received a grant through IPMG for $10,000.00. He added that he will be holding another meeting soon asking for permission to replace the tasers.

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, Jeremy Weh made a motion to adjourn. Scott Diekemper seconded the motion. Finding all in favor, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
