Boone County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.
On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Poplar Grove man on multiple child sex offenses.
Daniel Dye, 69 years old of Poplar Grove, was charged with one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child (Class X Felony) and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony). Dye was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $500,000.00 (10%) bond.
The arrest of Dye came after it was reported he had sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13. Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives investigated the case along with the Anchorage (Alaska) Police Department.
The investigation continues and additional charges are possible. A class X felony is punishable by six (6) to sixty (60) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A class 2 felony is punishable by three (3) to seven (7) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Members of the public are reminded that these are only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the State’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
