Q4 2018 Recap: Parolees in Rockford convicted of homicide

There were five offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Rockford during the fourth quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows that four men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 46. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2014, and the oldest was a 70-year-old man sentenced in 1999.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was David P. Vanhorn. He was convicted of homicide in 1998 when he was 38 years old. He is now 60.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in Q4 2018 who were convicted of homicide.
