In recent months, inflation has been driving up the cost of everyday goods and services, including electricity bills. This has put a major strain on American families. This month, Illinois State Senator Dave Syverson said that Republicans are moving to help solve this problem.
"As electric bills soar for customers across the state, Senate Republicans filed a new legislative package this week seeking to address Illinois’ energy problems," Syverson said in a Facebook post. In his post, Syverson also brought attention to a newsletter that had in-depth information about what the Senate is doing to reduce electrical bills for families around Illinois. Syverson has co-sponsored a legislative package with individual bills that would help to address the issue.
In addition to the legislative packages, Syverson is also bringing attention to electrical company scams that worsen conditions for consumers.
Recently, Syverson was named a "Champion of Free Enterprise" by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. His efforts to help businesses recover from struggles stemming from the coronavirus pandemic were highlighted specifically.
In response to the award, Syverson said, "It is an honor to know my efforts on behalf of the job creators in northern Illinois have been rated so highly by the Illinois Chamber,"
