North Park FPD responds to 102 fires in 2018

North Park Fire Protection District responded to 170 calls in 2018 - 36 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in North Park included 102 fires - 67 structure fires, 14 vehicle fires and 21 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $364,100 in fire loss - or about $3,570 per fire.

The department also received 64 false calls, including five malicious calls and 59 other false calls.

The North Park Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $879,105 in 2018.

The North Park FPD Firefighter's Pension Fund, which has active employee and one retired or inactive employee, was $773 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $14 for every fire in 2017.
