Q1 2019 Recap: Parolees in Winnebago County convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Winnebago County during the first quarter of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rockford Sun.

The data shows that a man and a woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 35. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old woman sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 45-year-old man sentenced in 2014.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Micheal Grant. He was convicted in 2014 when he was 40 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
