City of Loves Park City Council met March 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Gregory Jury called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Alderman Jim Thompson opened the meeting with an invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Present: Mayor Gregory Jury, Aldermen Robert Schlensker, Doug Allton, Mike Owens, John Jacobson, Jim Puckett, Dan Jacobson, John Pruitt, Jim Thompson, Mark Peterson (via telephone), A. Marie Holmes

Also Present: City Clerk Bob Burden

1. Approve Minutes 03/20/23

The Journal of Proceedings for the regular meeting of March 20, 2023, was approved as submitted by the city clerk on a motion by Alderman Schlensker. Second by Alderman Allton. Motion carried. 9 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Owens, Puckett, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Holmes) 1 Present (Alderman John Jacobson)

2. SEP/Ruck March For Veterans Request

Received a Special Event Permit application from Janine Idstein for the Ruck March for Veterans, to be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Perryville Path, with the start/finish at Peak Sports Club. Referred to Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

3. SEP/Ruck March For Veterans Approved

Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee moved to approve a Special Event Permit application from Janine Idstein for the Ruck March for Veterans, to be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Perryville Path, with the start/finish at Peak Sports Club. Second by Alderman Owens. Motion carried by voice vote.

4. SEP/Outdoor Movie Theater Request

Received a Special Event Permit application from Shawn Nisius to hold an outdoor movie theater at the Rockford Speedway, every Friday from April 28 through October 13, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Referred to Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee.

5. General Fund Bills

Alderman John Jacobson presented the General Fund and all other bills dated March 20, 2023 in the amount of $168,935.59, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Owens, John Jacobson, Puckett, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Holmes)

6. Water Department Bills

Alderman John Jacobson presented the Water Department bills dated March 20, 2023, in the amount of $35,409.38, and moved that they be paid. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried. 10 Ayes (Aldermen Schlensker, Allton, Owens, John Jacobson, Puckett, Dan Jacobson, Pruitt, Thompson, Peterson, Holmes)

7. Public Safety Report

Alderman Allton presented the Police Department Report for March 27, 2023; presented the Fire Department Report for March 27, 2023, to be placed on file.

8. Public Works Report

Alderman Schlensker presented the Street Department Report dated March 27, 2023; presented the Water Department Report dated March 27, 2023, to be placed on file.

9. Finance & Administrative Committee

Alderman John Jacobson presented the General Fund and all other bills dated March 27, 2023, in the amount of $699,371.57, for consideration at next week’s council meeting; presented the minutes from the committee meeting held March 20, 2023, to be placed on file.

10. Public Works Committee

Alderman Schlensker presented the Water Department bills dated March 27, 2023, in the amount of $74,856.16, for consideration at next week’s council meeting.

11. Codes & Regulations Committee

Alderman Thompson of the Codes and Regulations Committee presented the minutes from the committee meeting held on February 20, 2023, to be placed on file.

Chauncey Wright spoke about the Kingsley water bill issue at Forest Hills Village.

14. Adjourn

Alderman John Jacobson moved that the meeting be adjourned. Second by Alderman Schlensker. Motion carried by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
