State Representative Joe Sosnowski, a Republican from Rockford, has publicly addressed Governor JB Pritzker's recent confirmation that taxpayer funds have been allocated to provide services to migrants in Illinois who entered the country illegally. In response, Rep. Sosnowski expressed his concern for the financial strain experienced by Illinois taxpayers, who face challenges such as inflation, high property taxes, and the rising cost of living.
"While Illinois taxpayers struggle to make ends meet and face various pressing issues, including crime, public safety, education, child protection, and healthcare for our veterans, the Governor has allowed temporary tax cuts on essentials like gas and groceries to expire," said Rep. Sosnowski. "This decision has added an additional burden on Illinois families, while the Governor continues to provide services to non-citizens without any financial restraint. I am urging the Governor to halt the diversion of state funding towards non-citizens and redirect these resources towards benefiting taxpayers and the most vulnerable residents of our state."
Representative Sosnowski represents the 69th District, which encompasses parts of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties. With this statement, he brings attention to the need to prioritize the allocation of state resources to address the pressing concerns faced by Illinois citizens and ensure their well-being.
